is Critically Important Too

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Enhances EQ

SEL helps:

  • address bullying and problematic behaviors
  • improve school climate and home / community environments
  • increase empathy, resiliency, self-regulation and self-esteem
  • improve relationships and overall social and emotional well-being
  • strengthen academic achievement (students score 11% higher in academic achievement per Casel.org)

EQandIQ’s Overcoming Obstacles – Life Skills Program aims to provide a user-friendly and accessible experience to support these critically important teachings. Anxiety and depression have soared at alarming rates. Teaching SEL to enhance EQ offers proactive measures to address the mental health and well-being of our youth. SEL also provides invaluable skills for the trajectory of young adults, well into their adulthood, as they confront inevitable challenges in life. The more strategies our youth can learn and carry forward with them into their adult years, the greater chance they will enjoy healthier lives.

EQandIQ’s Founder: Lynn Benson, MSW, LSW

Lynn Benson has a diverse and extensive background in the early childhood and education field, including inter-generational care, and working as a social worker with children, teens and the elderly. Lynn is a producer of social emotional learning short films and co-author of Cherished Memories - The Story of My Life (which sold out on QVC), The Senior Organizer, and Chicken Soup for the Soul- Life Lessons for Busy Moms. She is also a co-founder of a cloud organizing solution for cherished memories and one’s vital information: www.digitallifecloud.com

Lynn began her career working for a national multi-center inter-generational company which cared for children and elders, first in the classroom directly with children, and eventually as Center Director, and then Regional Director, overseeing the operations of all of the company’s California facilities.

Lynn obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from Long Beach State University in California (where she was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award). During her social work years, Lynn presented numerous seminars revolving around "conflict resolution" to improve communications within families and communities.

As a California native, she spent her childhood and most of her adult life in California, but for over a decade, Lynn, her husband and their two daughters have called New Jersey home. Having lived on both coasts, she knows one thing is clear - no matter where you live, it is critical that schools, professionals and parents prioritize and infuse SEL into their lives.
